What is a POS sytem?
A POS (Point of Sale) system is a payment terminal that allows businesses to accept (card) payments, similar to the systems you see in most retail stores or cafés. However, Tattoogenda’s POS is specifically designed for tattoo studios. It’s not just a standalone card reader—it’s directly linked to your booking system and runs in your browser, allowing you to process payments, manage appointments, and track sales all in one place.

Intro to Tattoogenda
If you want to streamline payment processing in your tattoo studio you will benefit from using a POS system for tattoo shops to accept payments.
There are many generic POS hardware and front desk applications available on the market, but none of them serves tattoo businesses specifically.
Tattoogenda is a digital calendar for all your tattoo and piercing appointments. It’s a booking software, customers can shedule their own consultation or piercing appointment with you from your website. We have a lot more features included, which we will talk about in this article to. But let’s focus on the POS first.

Tattoogenda's POS
We integrate with Stripe, our POS payment processor. When you have a Tattoogenda subscription you can go to settings and choose to connect your Stripe account.
Once that is done, you can collect deposits from your customer via an automated mail. Those mails contain a payment link that the customer can click, which guides them to the integrated payment page.
Hardware
An other part of Tattoogenda’s POS is the payment terminals (the hardware).
We don’t come with fancy hardware. TG just runs from your browser, all you need is a subscription.
When you integrated with Stripe, you can then order a Stripe terminal from your Connected Stripe Account. That’s the only hardware you would need. Y
ou will need some guidance from our support to do so, we can show you the budget version, and we will need to link your hardware device to your account once you received it.
Transaction fees
There is no monthly fee involved with Stripe, but a one time payment for the terminal, which is at the moment of this writing 199. But prices can change. There are processing fees to be paid, that means for every card transaction that goes through the Stripe terminal or the Stripe deposit payment link you pay a small procent to Stripe and an even smaller procent to Tattoogenda.
At the moment of this writing that is 1,5% for Stripe and 0,2% for Tattoogenda.
No hidden fees here.
When you have your terminal connected to your tattoo shop POS you can start taking payments with debit cards, credit card, ad tips and process all kinds of payments.

Collecting deposits
Deposits is a big part of Tattoogenda because collecting deposits at the time of booking can help ensure only serious clients schedule appointments, reducing no-shows. For each booking you make the system starts sending emails to your customers to collect their deposit payments. We can send up to 2 reminders, and even automatically cancel appointments that don’t receive a payment on time.
Mandatory deposits can secure appointments and reduce no-shows in POS systems.
Receipts and more
Tattoogenda makes your tattoo and/or piercing business able to send digital receipts, add multiple tattoo staff, manage appointments, do walk ins, send automated confirmations which reduce no shows, check our built in reporting, use liability waivers (they come with a default but are fully customizable), do artist management, customer management, keep track of your clients history (have they been a no-show with you in the past?).

When checking out an appointment in your tattoo studio you can also add tips and sell aftercare products. Which products you sell in your shop exactly is fully customizable and you can choose to use our inventory management.

Inventory management features in POS systems can help track supplies and alert when stock is low, preventing last-minute supply runs.
Real-time monitoring automatically deducts items from stock levels as they are used or sold.
Payment options in store
- After you calculated the total, our POS system will ask you which payment methods you want to use for this payment. Options are cash, gift cards, something else, and card. If you select card than the POS terminal will be activated so your client can pay.

Our POS Proces for Tattoo Sessions
- Client’s tattoo session is complete.
- Go to the online tattoo appointment.
- Click ‘Wrap Up.’
- Enter the full tattoo price and add optional extras (e.g., aftercare products).
- Click ‘Pay Now.’
- Choose your payment method (card, cash, gift voucher, combinations) and select ‘Use Deposit.’
- You can only proceed to payment if the prices you entered match the total tattoo price plus any extras.
- And that’s it – you’re done!

The payments are kept in different reports that make your accounting very easy, they also get stored on the client management where your front desk tattoo studio staff can see that customers history at one glance.

Flexible payment methods included in our POS systems allow for credit/debit cards, mobile wallets, and ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ options. These digital methods are used when customer pay their deposit online from home.

Per artist in your tattoo shop and/or piercing studio you can define what their share is. Per payment that comes in with TG POS those shares are automatically calculated. Very easy to know who should pay out how much to whom.
A good POS tracks every service, tip, and product sale.
You can set custom commission rates and calculate payouts with a few clicks using a POS system. Automating payroll saves time and avoids manual errors in tattoo shops.
The POS system can automatically deduct the deposit from the customers’ total at the register when it comes time to pay for the remainder of the service. You can choose if Tattoogenda sees the deposit as an artist share when the deposit is paid OR when the deposit is used.
Subscription plans
We have two subscription plans, one is for just 1 artist with the focus on planning and excludes anything to do with payments and POS (for artists who want to keep their financial transactions on paper). The other plan includes all services and features for your shop we talked about: it’s everything you need if you want to save money in your tattoo and piercing business. You can add unlimited artists, payments, clients, transactions, services, staff management, etc
The automated emails gain you client trust. It makes your client base come back for more, it helps reduce no shows drastically, and its just an other service that you are providing your clients that your competitor is not.

Other POS Systems
Many POS systems for tattoo shops offer features for automated reporting and reconciliation to simplify financial management. We will give a brief summary here:
Square
Square POS allows tattoo shops to accept every major type of payment, including digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Subscriptions range from 49$ to 149$, where Tattoogenda’s subscription is now 50$.
Transaction fees for Square are 2.4% to 2.5% + 15¢ (for tap, dip, or swipe) and 2.9% + 30¢ (for online payments). Tattoogenda’s Stripe is 1,7% at this moment.
Lightspeed POS
Lightspeed POS features a built-in tattoo scheduling app that helps manage appointments and walk-ins efficiently. So this one originated outside the tattoo industry and then adapted to it.
Some of the main features are walk-ins and inventory management. Tattoogenda is less big on inventory management (who keeps track of all their needles and ink?).
They also integrate with quit some other toools, where as Tattoogenda is more of an all-lightweight-in-one tool.
Subscriptions are 129€, 189€, 269€ per month. They also provide a full set of hardware, like kassa’s, printers, scanners, etc. for which you have to request a price offer. Transaction fees are not publicly displayed..
Tattoogenda subscriptions are 16€/month (single artist) and 45€/month (shops).
TattooPro POS
TattooPro looks like it’s made for the tattoo industry to. It allows users to process digital payments, including deposits and tips, from any digital device. The tool focusses on noshows and deposit payments also.
Subcriptions are 99$ (1-2 artist), 199$ (2-5 artist) and 349$ (unlimited artists) per month.
Where Tattoogenda’s susbcriptions are 20$ (single artist) and 50$ (unlimited artists) per month at this moment.
Transaction fees are not listed.
Porter’s POS
Porter’s tattoo studio POS system if a more lightweight app that focusses on letting customers book in online with you. It collects deposits and has waiver forms to. You can use it with or without hardware.
Prices are 35$, 65$ and 250$ per month. Transaction fees are not listed.

Tattoo Studio Pro POS
